Box Score ANGOLA, Ind. - It was a
tough loss for the Trine University women's soccer team as
they fell 3-2 to conference opponent Hope College. The Thunder are
now 2-4 on the season and 0-2 in the MIAA.
Hope notched the first two goals of the game
including one just two minutes before the end of the first
half.
Trine would claw back as junior Mary Lang
(Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) notched her first goal of the season
just over a minute into the second half. Lang's goal was
assisted by freshman Morgan Baldwin (Amanda,
Ohio/Amanda-Clearcree). In the 61st minute it was freshman Trisha
King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) who headed home the equalizer off a
crossing pass from sophomore Kayla Cochran (Mansfield,
Ohio/Madison).
The excitement didn't last long as seven
minutes later, it Nora Kirk who knocked home the game-winner for
the Flying Dutch.
Senior Jen Wall (New Haven, Ind./New Haven) made
two saves in goal for the Thunder.
On the afternoon, both Trine and Hope managed
eight shots, with the Thunder holding a 6-to-5 shot on goal
advantage.
Trine will look to bounce back and earn their
first conference win of the season as they travel to Albion College
on September 20 for a 4:00 p.m. game.
