THUNDER AND BRITONS PLAY TO A 2-2 DRAW

ANGOLA, Ind. - It was a back-and-forth match between the Trine University women's soccer team and Albion College as the two teams played to a 2-2 draw. The Thunder are now 3-9-2 on the season and 1-7-2 in the conference.

The opening period saw the Britons strike first as Rachel Kain scored in the 28th minute. With just two minutes left in the opening period, freshman Lauren Keyser (Midland, Mich./Midland) directed home the Jen Wall (New Haven, Ind./New Haven) free kick to tie the score.

The Thunder took the lead in the 61st minute when sophomore Kristin Elliot (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) scored her fifth goal of the season on another assist from Wall. This time it would be Albion scoring the equalizer as Lindsey Lubanski scored on the corner kick just six minutes later to tie the game.

Both teams had their opportunities in the first overtime period as the Britons held a 2-to-1 shot advantage. The second extra period saw neither team attempt a shot as the game ended in a draw.

Sophomore Kate Wegert (Elmore, Ohio/Woodmore) made her second straight start in goal, making three saves on the night, two coming in the first extra period.

On the night, the Thunder held an 8-to-3 shot on goal advantage.

Trine will get back into action as they host conference leader Adrian College on October 15 for a noon match.
