DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Trine University women's soccer team fell to Loras College this afternoon at the Rock Bowl.
Julia Benham netted the Thunder's (1-1-0) goal in the 57
th minute.
Johannah Houtkooper made 10 saves in goal for Trine. The Thunder were out shot 28-4 in the contest, Benham made the most of Trine's lone shot on goal, finding the back of the net.
Loras controlled possession for much of the first half, Trine did manage one shot in the fifth minute.
Ava Leihgeber's shot missed the mark. The Thunder broke through in the 57
th minute with the first shot of the half. Benham got a shot past the Duhawks' keeper to give Trine a 1-0 lead.
The advantage held until the 81
st minute when the hosts scored on a corner opportunity. Loras then added another on a corner in the 87
th minute following some high drama that earned both coaches a yellow card.
Trine returns to Weaver Field on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. for a matchup with Capital University.
