PERU, Ind. – The Trine University triathlon team finished third at the Mighty Mississinewa Triathlon among a field of tough competition.
The defending national champions from North Central College won the event with 137 points. NCAA Division II University of Indianapolis came in at second with 114 points and the Thunder recorded 91 points.
Tessa Szymanski led the way for Trine finishing the day in sixth. She overtook opponents following the first transition before finishing with a time of 1:11:37, four minutes off of the winner. Lia Bartholomew came in second for the team, finishing tenth overall with a time of 1:13:38.
The next five Thunder finished between the 19th and 25th position. Ella Bartholomew led the group in 19th with a time of 1:21:41, followed by Aubrey Metzger (1:24:58) and Izabelle Dominski (1:25:08) in 21st and 22nd. Alyssa Seiter with a time of 1:26:54 finished 24th and Carmen Blaine finished in 25th with a 1:27:18. Makena Kretz rounded out the delegation from Trine with a time of 1:43:11.
The Thunder will finish off the first half of their season by traveling to the Beaver County Tri Cup on Saturday, September 19.
