ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's soccer team trailed by two goals in the early portion of the second half, but stormed back with a pair of goals in less than 30 seconds to secure a 2-2 draw with visiting Concordia University Wisconsin.
For the second game in a row, the Thunder surrendered an early lead. The Falcons scored in the fourth minute of play and ultimately took the 1-0 lead into halftime. The rest of the first period was relative close, with Trine finishing with six shots to five by Concordia Wisconsin.
The Falcons scored again in the opening minutes of the second half, this time benefiting from a foul in the penalty area.
The Thunder finally responded in the 50th minute of the contest. Will Sandlin placed a shot toward goal that bounced off the cross bar and back into play. Colin Clark was in position to take advantage of the rebound with a header into the back of the net.
Ben Borak won the ensuing kickoff before being fouled in the attacking side of midfield. Jonah Sipes took the free kick and placed it just in front of the goal, giving Camden Prather the chance to take a shot. The senior went to the low right side of the net to score the goal and tie the game at two.
After that score went final, the Thunder finish the day with a record of 1-2-1. They will next take the pitch when they travel to face Wheaton (Ill.) College on Tuesday, September 15. That contest is set to start at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT.
