EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Trine University women's cross country team competed at the Michigan State Cross Country Invitational this morning at Forest Akers Golf Course. The Thunder placed 21^st of 24 teams with 683 points.
 
Trine opted to rest its top runners to allow the team's younger runners to gain experience racing at a large meet. Teams were limited to 15 runners each.
 
Laeceigh Farris was Trine's top finisher, crossing the line in 25:16.3. Fellow freshman, Hailey Sills, was next for Trine in 25:56.4 and was followed closely by Samantha Wogaman in 26:03.3. Rounding out the Thunder's scoring runners were Jenna Chapin and Erinn Verkennes.
 
Trine returns to action in three weeks at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on October 2 and the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on October 3.
