ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's soccer team as announced the addition of Travis Hurtis to its coaching staff. Hurtis comes to Angola after three seasons as an assistant coach for the Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer team.
 
"I am thrilled to welcome Travis to our program," said Head Coach Alyssa Krause. "His elite soccer IQ, ability to teach the game, and eye for talent will help us reach our goals. I expect him to make an immediate impact on our players and program."
 
Hurtis helped lead the reemergence of the Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer program. In his three seasons in the Summitt City the Mastodons reached the Horizon League Tournament, the longest such streak in program history. The 'Dons posted an 8-3-6 record last year and reached the Horizon League Championship Game. In 2023, Hurtis helped PFW to its first winning season in six years and reach the Horizon League Semifinals. Hurtis' role with the Mastodons primarily focused on player development and gameday management.
 
Hurtis has also spent the last seven years coaching the U16-U19 levels at the Fort Wayne Sports Club. He oversaw athletes that signed to play at the Division I, III, NAIA, and Juco levels.
 
Hurtis' playing career began with Toronto FC Academy at the U15 and U16 levels, he then moved to the Toronto Lynx for U17-19 levels. Hurtis played collegiately at Huntington University where he was twice named the Forester's Defensive Player of the Year. In his senior year, he helped the Foresters to their first NAIA Tournament in 29 seasons. He then began his professional career with Blue Devils FC of Ontario's League 1. He then spent time playing for Indiana FC of the National Premier Soccer League and the Dayton Dutch Lions of the United Soccer League League Two.
