JOLIET, Ill. – The Trine University men's and women's track and field team competed at the St. Francis University Fighting Chance Invite this weekend.
Bailey Puckett led the Thunder with a win in the 800-meter run and
Olivia Andrews set a new program record in the pole vault.
Puckett took the win in 2:11.78, a new personal best and #3 all-time mark. She ranks 34
th nationally in the event and sixth nationally in the 1500-meter run.
Andrews topped her own school record in the pole vault, clearing 3.78 meters/12' 4.75" to finish in second place, she moves up to 26
th nationally in the event. Senior
Avery Boyce cleared 3.23m/10' 7" for tenth place.
Hannah Flores Ness cleared 1.61m/5' 3.25" in the high jump and placed fifth. Fellow freshman
Kaylee Birely ran a time of 58.72 seconds in the 400-meter dash for eighth place.
Chloe Goodrich was tenth in the 10,000-meter run in 37:02.92 and
Eleanor Young was 12
th in the 1500-meter run in 4:40.58.
The men's team was led by
Nolan Grant who won the 1500-meter run in 4:04.10,
Nicholas Spielman was fourth in the 5000 meters in 15:02.00.
Kyle Redd took ninth in the 400-meter dash, crossing in 49.52.
The Thunder will travel to Augustana University (Ill.) next Wednesday and Thursday for one final chance at NCAA Championships qualifying marks. The top 22 individuals and top 16 relays will qualify for the championships on May 21-23 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
