KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Trine University women's lacrosse team bowed out of the MIAA Tournament with a 21-5 loss to Kalamazoo College on Saturday night.
Erin Fariello and
Izabelle Dominski scored a pair of goals each for the Thunder (8-8). Kalamazoo improves to 10-8 with the win.
Kalamazoo limited Trine to just 14 shots on the night while posting 41 of their own. Trine caused 13 turnovers and grabbed 19 ground balls.
The Hornets swarmed Trine with a 9-0 goal advantage in the second and fourth quarters. Kzoo scored the first four goals of the contest before Fariello broke through with her first on an unassisted play.
Hayden Dahlinger added one of her own with an advantage score just one minute later. Fariello scored once more in the first frame to cut the Hornet lead to 7-3.
Dominski scored back-to-back in the third quarter to stop a 5-0 run. The Hornets would score the game's final nine goals to secure the win. The Hornets will advance to the MIAA semifinals at Hope College on Tuesday.
Trine's season concludes with its third consecutive MIAA Tournament appearance.
