Brooklyn Kerry jumps off the board in long jump

Birely, Kerry Set Records for Women's Track and Field at Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Mich. – Brooklyn Kerry and Kaylee Birely toppled a pair of program records at the Hillsdale College Tune Up on Saturday afternoon to lead the Trine University women's track and field team to a sixth-place finish.
 
Kerry bested the previous program standard in the triple jump by 62 centimeters or two feet and one-quarter inch. Her hop, skip, and jump won the competition and measured 11.82 meters/38' 9.25". She added a second-place finish in the long jump with a personal best of 5.54 meters/18' 2.25", good for second all-time. Kerry's triple jump ranks 14th nationally and first in the MIAA.
 
Birely shattered one of Thunder great Evie Miller's (Bultemeyer) records. Birely circuited the 400-meter track in 58.37 seconds, besting Miller's effort by .13 seconds while finishing sixth. Birely ranks fourth in the MIAA with the performance. Taryn Pratt finished eighth in the race in 1:01.89.
 
Ariana Todd placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in 12.49 seconds and fifth in the 200-meters in 25.94 seconds. Aniyah Small bettered her #10 all-time mark with a personal best of 12.60 seconds. The duo joined Sophia Peter and Emma Heintzelman on the 4x100-meter relay to finish third in 48.48 seconds, the third fastest time in program history.
 
Kelly Valle took second in the 800-meter dash in 2:21.36.
 
Olivia Andrews took eighth in the women's pole vault clearing 3.58 meters/11' 9". Kendallyne Kroeckel joins the program's top-10 performances with a vault of 2.98 meters/9' 9.25".
 
Olivia Foster was eighth in the javelin throw with a toss of 32.65 meters/107' 1".
 
The Thunder will compete at the MIAA Championships next Thursday and Friday at Hope College.
