ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team sent their seniors off in style, defeating Alma College 6-1 in the final home contest of the season.

The Thunder won three straight in the doubles portion of the contest. Elina Locane and Alexis Maloney opened day with a 6-0 victory in the top match. Emma Beehler and Addison Lockwood needed just one more game for a 6-1 win in the No. 3 match. Emilee Bassett and Emily Hatseras won the No. 2 match 6-3.

Trine won five of the singles matches to secure the 6-1 final score. Four of those matches were relatively simple affairs. Maloney won handily in the No. 4 match with scores of 6-1, 6-0. Locane was just behind that with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the top match. Bassett was also safe in the No. 3 match with a 6-2, 6-3 score. Avery Elsworth put herself on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 6 match.

The loss and final win for the Thunder needed super tiebreakers. Hatseras got the win in the No. 5 math in comeback fashion. She finished with scores of 3-6, 6-3, 10-7. Beehler played a razor thin contest in the No. 2 match. She fell 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 6-10.

The team finishes the day 15-5 overall and 3-4 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). They will finish the regular season when they travel to face The University of Olivet on Tuesday, April 21. That dual is set to start at 4 p.m.
