HOLLAND, Mich. – The Trine University men's tennis team dropped a tough contest against Hope College by the score of 6-1.
The Flying Dutch took all three doubles in close fashion to secure the first point of the dual. The Thunder lost both the top paring and No. 3 match by the score of 6-4. Drew Hackney and Emmett Wirth played the tightest match in the No. 2 contest, falling in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5).
Hackney secured the lone victory of the day for Trine in the top singles match. He rallied after a first set loss to secure the win with scores of 4-6, 7-5, 10-8.
The Thunder finish the day 12-4 overall and 2-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play. They next take the courts when they host Calvin University on Tuesday, April 14. That match is set to start at 4 p.m.
