ALMA, Mich. – The Trine University baseball team closed its series against Alma College on Saturday afternoon with a pair of losses to the Scots. Alma (20-9-1, 8-3 MIAA) defeated Trine (8-21, 4-6 MIAA) 14-3 in game one and 20-3 in game two.

Cole Temple,
Kai Jones, and
Justin Hamberg each had two hits for the Thunder on the day.
In game one five Thunder recorded a hit with
Kyle Martin leading the way with a double. Trine struck first with an RBI from
Brody Bond that helped
Luke Burford reach home plate. Alma countered with the next nine runs to take a commanding advantage. A wild pitch in the fifth brought in a run from
Sam Beckham.
William Taczak earned a fielder's choice in a nine pitch at bat that scored
Justin Hamberg. Alma held on to post the 14-3 victory.
Game two saw Trine fall behind 4-0 in the first inning. Hamberg scored Gilmet on a sacrifice fly to get Trine on the board. Bond drove in Burford on an RBI single in the third to cut the lead to 7-2. The Scots tallied the next 13 runs and put the game in hand.
Noah Emmer doubled to left center to plate Burford for the second time.
Trine hosts Olivet tomorrow at 1 p.m. for a single game at Jannen Field.
