Kolar Secures 100 with Win Over Allegheny

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Trine University women's tennis team earned head coach Erin Kolar her 100th win as head coach by defeating Allegheny College 5-2 on their final day of spring break competition.

The Thunder won two doubles matches in convincing fashion to secure the first team point of the contest. Both Elina Locane and Alexis Maloney in the top match and Emma Beehler and Addison Lockwood in the No. 3 match won by the score of 6-1.

Avery Elsworth quickly put the team up 2-0 with a sweep in the No. 6 singles match, 6-0, 6-0. Emily Hatseras was just behind her in the No. 5 match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory.

The final and decisive wins for the Thunder came in much more dramatic fashion. Locane took the No. 1 match despite falling in the first set. She won the second set and super tiebreaker for a final score of 4-6, 6-1, 10-6. Emilee Bassett also needed extra tennis to win the No. 3 match. She had final scores of 6-2, 5-7, 10-7.

The Thunder improve 10-1 overall after the win. Kolar finishes the day with a 100-91 record with the women's team. The team returns home for their next contest which is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10 at 4 p.m. They are set to host Manchester University.
