ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team made short work of visiting Manchester University, winning 7-0 with five contested matches ending in sweeps.
The Thunder did not surrender a game during the doubles portion of the contest, earning the first team point of the day. Elina Locane and Alexis Maloney won their first game before the Spartans team was forced to retire due to injury. The No. 2 team of Cali Mickley and Avery Elsworth along with the No. 3 team of Chloe Hilvers and Anna Wesley won their matches 6-0.
Two singles matches finished in 6-0, 6-0 sweeps for Trine student-athletes, including the top match for Locane and the third match for Mickley. Hilvers at No. 4 and Wesley at No. 5 needed just one more game, winning their matches 6-1, 6-0. Elsworth won the No. 2 match 6-0, 6-3. Anna Bella Alvarado won the No. 6 match by default.
The Thunder improve to 11-1 following the lopsided victory. They will next take the courts when they host the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday, March 21. That dual is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
