ORLANDO, Fla. – The Trine University women's tennis team bounced back with a 6-0 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin.
The Thunder opened the day by sweeping the doubles portion of the competition, to earn the first team point of the contest. Emma Beehler and Addison Lockwood swept their opponents in the No. 3 match, 6-0. Both the top team of Elina Locane and Alexis Maloney and the No. 2 pair of Emilee Bassett and Emily Hatseras won with scores of 6-1.
Trine then took five of the singles matches to finish off the 6-0 win. The No. 3 singles match was called due to rain and will go unfinished. Maloney had the most convincing win of the singles matches, winning at No. 4 with scores of 6-0, 6-0. Beehler needed just one more game to win the No. 2 match with scores of 6-1, 6-0. Avery Elsworth finished the patter off with one more game ending in a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 match.
Locane took the top match 6-3, 6-1 and Hatseras finished off the day with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5. Bassett split the first two sets before the match was called due to rain.
The Thunder improve to 7-1 following the victory. They will take to the courts twice tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4. In the morning they are set to face Wartburg College before taking on Concordia University Chicago in the evening.
