CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Trine University men's volleyball team stayed red-hot on Saturday afternoon with a sweep of the Wabash College Little Giants. The Thunder (16-8, 7-1 MCVL) have now won eight straight, including the last five by sweep, and 12 of their last 14. The Little Giants are now 7-11 (4-3 MCVL). Trine has clinched a spot in the MCVL Tournament April 10-11.
 
The Thunder offense was stellar once again, hitting .330 and registering 45 kills, Johnson-Kuhao Ho'okano-Pelekai led with 13 and an ace. Karl Both notched eight blocks, tying his record for most in a three-set match. Trine took the match 25-20, 25-21, 29-27.
 
Trine controlled the momentum early in set one with three kills from Ho'okano-Pelekai. Both added two kills and a block to stretch the lead to 14-9. Ho'okano-Pelekai had seven kills in the set.
 
Set two was close wire-to-wire, Both provided some breathing room early with a kill and a block to give Trine a 10-7 lead. Seven of Trine's last eight points came via swing with two each from John Mikrut, Zach Mikrut, and Ho'okano-Pelekai.
 
Both provided four of his rejections in set three. Three coming during an important 5-0 run that turned a 23-19 deficit to a 24-23. Each Mikrut brother bookended Both's blocks with kills. Trine then forced a couple extra set points before rattling off three straight to take the win. Both iced the game with an ace.
 
Trine takes on Calvin on Wednesday evening inside Hershey Hall for Senior Night. A win and a loss by Wittenberg in either of their final two games will give Trine the outright MCVL title and hosting duties in the MCVL Tournament. A win secures a share of the MCVL Regular Season Championship.
