ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team dropped their third match of the season to visiting Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology by the score of 6-1.
The Thunder scored their team point by taking two of the doubles matches. Sammy Yin and Andrew Spirrison took the top match 6-4 while Asher Monson and Landon Bassett won the No. 4 match 6-2.
The Fightin' Engineers took all six singles matches. The two closest matches came at No. 3 and No. 6. Spirrison dropped his first set in the third, before winning the second to force the super tiebreaker. He fell with scores of 4-6, 6-2, 6-10. Monson also went to a super tiebreaker in the final match falling 6-4, 3-6, 7-10.
The Thunder fall to 10-3 after the loss. They will enter Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play in their next match. They are scheduled to host Adrian College on Saturday, March 28. That dual is set to start at 11 a.m.
