FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named
Andy Rang its Women's Basketball Coach of the Year. Rang has led Trine to a 22-5 record so far this season that includes a 15-1 mark in MIAA competition.
The Thunder claimed back-to-back MIAA Regular Season Titles and were the one seed in the MIAA Tournament. Trine advanced to the MIAA Championship Game where they fell to Hope College.
Trine posted a 6-3 mark in non-conference games this season with a signature win over #9 Baldwin Wallace. Trine also posted wins over DePauw and Elmhurst to win DePauw's Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament. The Thunder then won its first 15 MIAA contests, including one over then-#7 Hope. The 15
th was Trine's 33
rd consecutive MIAA win, establishing a new program record for consecutive conference wins.
Rang is 183-40 (.821) in eight seasons leading the Thunder and 108-11 (.907) in MIAA contests. Rang has led Trine to eight consecutive NCAA Tournaments and has posted an 11-5 record in the big dance. The Thunder are in line for an at-large bid to this year's big dance and will learn their fate at 2:30 during the
selection show.
