ORLANDO, Fla. – The Trine University women's tennis team dropped their first dual match of the season to University of Mary, an NCAA Division II school form Bismarck N.D. The match ended with a 5-2 score.

The Thunder took one match during the doubles portion of the contest, losing out on the team point. Elina Locane and Alexis Maloney earned the win in the No. 1 match by the score of 6-4.

Trine did their best to earn a comeback victory during singles, winning a pair and taking two more to a super tiebreaker. Maloney lost her first set but won the second to force the tiebreaker in the No. 4 match. She ultimately fell with scores of 3-6, 6-3, 3-10. Emily Hatseras played with the same script, dropping the No. 5 match 3-6, 6-4, 5-10.

The quickest win for the team came in the No. 6 match where Avery Elsworth came away with a 6-4, 6-0 victory. Locane finished the day perfect with a 1-6, 6-0, 10-5 win in the No. 1 match.

The team finishes the day 6-1 overall. They will faceoff with Concordia University Wisconsin tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3. That match is set to start at 8 a.m.
