ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's volleyball team cruised to its fourth straight win this evening with a 3-0 sweep of The University of Olivet. Johnson-Kuhao Ho'okano-Pelekai led Trine (12-8, 3-1 MCVL) with 10 kills and six aces. The Comets fall to 5-15 (0-4 MCVL).
 
John Mikrut added 11 kills and Seth McDonald added four blocks. Trine recorded eight aces and eight blocks on the night. Trine took the match 25-13, 25-18, 25-18.
 
Trine shook off a slow start with a 10-2 run to take a 14-8 run. Ho'okano-Pelekai led with a pair of aces and kills. He notched two aces in all three sets with each coming in back-to-back fashion. The lead swelled to 22-12 as Ho'okano-Pelekai and Mikrut added more offense.
 
Olivet pushed the Thunder farther in each set, taking an 11-9 lead in set two. Xander Ikusz scored or assisted the next six Thunder points to help the team secure a 15-12 lead. A 5-0 run would put the set in hand for Trine as McDonald and Zach Mikrut added a block and Ho'okano-Pelekai added two more aces.
 
Olivet raced out to a 5-0 lead in set three and would ultimately tie the game at 17 before Trine scored eight of the last nine points to take the win. Bryce Tupaz had nine assists in the final frame while Ho'okano-Pelekai piled on two more aces and Mikrut ended the game with a swing from Tupaz.
 
Trine returns to action on Friday when they host the University of Mount Union at 7:00 p.m.
