ANGOLA, Ind. –
Bailey Puckett won twice to lead the Trine University women's track and field team to a third place finish at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Eleanor Young and
Olivia Andrews also claimed event titles for the Thunder.
Trine tallied 138.33 points for a third-place finish. Calvin University took home the team title with 220 points, Hope was second with 164.5. Alma, Adrian, Albion, Kalamazoo, and Olivet rounded out the team standings.
Puckett claimed titles in the 800-meters and the one-mile run. She successfully defended her mile crown from last season and the 2024 season with a time of 4:54.41. In the 800, she crossed in 2:18.79 for the win.
Young claimed the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:11.56 and placed fourth in the mile with a time of 5:08.54.
Andrews topped not only the program record but the MIAA meet record with a 3.55 meter/11' 7.75" clearance in the pole vault to take the win.
Jill Taylor added an All-MIAA performance in the long jump with second place finishes. Taylor's leap measured 5.56 meters/18' 3", just one centimeter off the program record.
Emma Forker was third with a 5.50 meter/18' .5" jump.
Brooklyn Kerry shattered the program standard in the triple jump with a hop, skip, and jump of 11.47m/37' 7.75". The mark bested the MIAA meet record but was outdone by a competitor from Calvin. Kerry added a fourth-place finish in the long jump.
Emmaline Leatherman and Taylor were fourth and fifth in the event. Taylor's leap of 10.56m/34' 7.75" is sixth in program history.
Emma Heintzelman and
Emma Forker placed fifth and eighth in the 60-meter dash. Heintzelman's finals time of 7.95 matched Forker's prelim time and the duo now share the fifth fastest time in program history.
Sophia Peter was eighth in the 200-meter dash, clocking 26.49 seconds. The time is seventh best mark all-time.
Kaylee Birely was fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.18.
Taryn Pratt and
Halle Overmire added seventh and eighth place finished in the 800-meters.
Chloe Goodrich was third in both the 3000- and 5000-meter races and
Grace Dubsky was sixth in both.
Peter and Flores Ness were fourth and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles. Peter's time of 9.09 is second best all-time and Flores Ness' 9.34 is third.
Birely, Peter,
Alyssa Possehn, and
Ariana Todd placed third in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:07.17.
Overmire,
Emily Wahl,
Kelly Valle, and
Sophia Altman placed fourth in the 4000-meter distance medley relay with a time of 12:53.12, the sixth best all-time.
Kendallyne Kroeckel was eighth in the pole vault and
Macy Bonifield was seventh in the weight throw. Her toss measures ninth best in program history at 13.99 meters/45' 10.75".
Trine will head to the Wartburg Final Qualifier next weekend for a final chance at national qualifying marks. The top-20 individuals in each event qualify for the NCAA Championships on March 13-14 in Birmingham, Alabama.
