Flores Ness, Andrews Top Record Books at Mrs. G Invite

ANGOLA, Ind. – Hannah Flores Ness and Olivia Andrews broke their own school records on Friday night in an impressive performance from the Trine University women's track and field team at the annual Mrs. G Invitational. Team scores were not kept, MIAA foes Adrian College, Albion College, Calvin University, and Hope College competed at the meet as well as Manchester University, Ohio Northern University, Siena Heights University and Purdue Fort Wayne.
 
Flores Ness bettered her school record in the high jump by one centimeter to 1.60 meters/5' 3" for a third place showing. She added a #3 all-time mark in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing in 9.35 seconds.
 
Andrews topped her school record twice, clearing 3.30 meters/10' 10" and then 3.40 meters/11' 1.75" and placed second in the competition.
 
Kaylee Birely took silver in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.52. She teamed up with Sophia Peter, Alyssa Possehn, and Ariana Todd in the 4x400-meter relay for a new #2 all-time mark and a third place finish. The quartet finished in 4:07.08.
 
Peter was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.21 seconds, her prelim time of 9.17 moved her to second in program history.
 
Bailey Puckett cruised to a 2:18.48 800-meter run to move to third in program history and ranks 45th nationally. Puckett took second in the 3000-meter run in 10:40.28, Chloe Goodrich was fourth in 10:46.06.
 
Goodrich and Halle Overmire were fourth and fifth in the mile in 5:23.58 and 5:23.63 respectively.
 
The Distance Medley Relay team of Mia Griesmeyer, Kelly Valle, Tessa Szymanski, and Piper Barker was second in 14:04.00.
 
Leaping on to the Trine top-10 lists were freshmen Jill Taylor and Emma Heintzelman. Taylor leaped 5.28 meters/17' 4" in the long jump and 10.37 meters/34' .25" in the triple jump. She ranks sixth and seventh all-time, respectively. Heintzelman covered 5.13 meters/16' 10" in her long jump for ninth all-time.
 
Macy Bonifield heaved the weight 13.61 meters/44' 8" to move to ninth all-time as well.
 
Trine will head to Grand Valley State next week for two days of competition on Friday and Saturday.
