ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's basketball team advanced to its 11
th straight MIAA Championship Game with a 69-57 win over Calvin University on Friday night.
Ally Capouch led Trine (22-4, 15-1 MIAA) with 20 points who completed the season sweep of Calvin (16-11, 10-6 MIAA).

Annika Southworth netted 15 points for Trine and hit all three of her triples.
Sophie Gesell notched eight points and six rebounds in her first career start.
Gracey Metz had an identical stat line in 15 minutes of action.
Gesell scored four of Trine's first eight points in a hotly contested first quarter. Trine was able to pull away late with a triple from Southworth and a lay in from Metz.
Trine's 16-12 first quarter advantage quickly became 27-15 with Capouch finding her marks from beyond the arc. She buried two threes and Gesell added another to help Trine open up a comfortable lead. The lead reached 16 with an and-one from
Madison Wagner, the junior joined Southworth on the MIAA's first team this afternoon. Trine led 34-18 with the make and would lead 34-22 at the half.
Calvin outscored Trine 20-14 in the third quarter, meticulously chipping away at Trine's lead and eventually tying it at 42 with 1:25 left. Capouch again found her shot; knocking down not one, but two more triples in the final minute. The second came as the buzzer sounded in the quarter in front of the Thunder bench, she stepped back to create just enough space to fire off a shot that touched nothing but net.
Trine again turned to the long ball in the fourth quarter as they pulled away from the Knights. Southworth hit two in the final frame and Capouch added her fifth. Wagner grabbed a steal and found
Zoe Willems for a layup. Willems missed the and-one attempt but Metz collected the rebound that eventually found
Sara Parkison atop the key who banked in a triple. The shot gave Trine a 64-53 lead and would put the game out of reach for Calvin. The Thunder defense stepped up as well, forcing three shot clock violations in the second half.
Trine will take on Hope College tomorrow evening in the friendly confines of the MTI Center at 7:30 p.m.
