ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's soccer team got off to a fast start but were unable to hold off Kalamazoo College on Saturday night.
Kyra Graham and
Erin Scully added goals for Trine (4-4-3, 1-1 MIAA) in the 3-2 loss. Kalamazoo moves to 7-2-1 (2-0 MIAA) with the win.
Graham corralled a clearing kick from the Hornets and fired it back toward the goal to give Trine a 1-0 lead in just the fourth minute of the game. Kalamazoo added goals in the 17
th and 22
nd minutes to claim the lead. The Hornets controlled the possession for most of the first half and extended the lead in the early portion of the second half to push the lead to 3-1.
Trine had a few scoring chances in the second half but were unable to cash in until the 81
st minute when
Erin Scully struck pay dirt. Trine had a chance to tie the game in the 84
th minute but were denied by the Hornets keeper.
The Thunder are on the road next week with games on Wednesday and Saturday at Adrian and Saint Mary's.
