ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University's Zack Pillow has been selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week, the organization announced this morning.
The sophomore was one of two wide receivers on the team of the week, becoming the first Thunder student-athlete to take home the distinction since 2023. That season saw two members take home the award including Alex Price and Jamon Gibson, the latter of whom also did so with a standout, record-breaking performance against Adrian College.
Pillow's record-breaking day clinched the win in the Border Brawl rivalry game against the Bulldogs. The Melbourne, Fla. native finished the day with a program record 17 catches and four touchdowns while compiling 180 yards receiving. He saved his most important catch for last, hauling in his fourth touchdown of the day to clinch the 45-42 victory with just nine seconds remaining.
The Thunder remained unbeaten in MIAA play after the win, improving to 6-1 overall. They will face their biggest test of the season next week, in a game with conference championship implications. Nationally ranked and undefeated Calvin University will come to town on Saturday, October 31. The Knights and Thunder represent two of three teams still undefeated in MIAA play, with Hope College being the third. All three teams still play each other. Next week's game is scheduled to kickoff at 1:00 p.m.
