ANGOLA, Ind. – Director of Athletics and Head Women's Basketball Coach Andy Rang has announced the promotion of Josh Kruzel to Associate Head Coach of the Trine University women's basketball program.

"Josh has been a seamless addition to our coaching staff and an integral part of our success the past two seasons," said Rang, "The team has quickly come to trust and rely on his expertise. I am truly grateful to have him on my staff during this time of transition and am excited for his continued growth at Trine."

This will be Kruzel's third season in Angola, over his first two he has helped guide the Thunder to a 48-10 record that includes a 31-1 record in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play. The Thunder have captured both MIAA Regular Season Championships, two NCAA Tournament appearances and won a program record 33 consecutive MIAA contests under Kruzel's assistance.

"I would like to thank Coach Rang for his belief in me" said Kruzel of his promotion. "I'm very excited to step into this expanded role and continue our tradition of excellence in the Thunder women's basketball program"

Kruzel's primary role as assistant coach has been recruiting, a role in which he has flourished. Callie Nichols and Annika Southworth both earned starting roles for the Thunder last season as freshmen; Southworth became the first freshman in program history to be named to the All-MIAA First Team. Sophie Gesell added to her fellow freshmen's contributions with valuable minutes throughout the season and career highs in points (14) and blocks (4) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
