Puckett, Goodrich Win to Lead Women's Track and Field in Ohio

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Bailey Puckett and Chloe Goodrich claimed event wins for the Trine University women's track and field team at the Wittenberg Steemer Showcase on Saturday afternoon. Trine placed fourth of 21 teams with 56 points. Cedarville University won the meet with 120 points, the University of Indianapolis was second with 84 and Ohio Wesleyan University was third with 78.
 
Pucket won the mile run with a personal best time of 4:55.86 that ranks second in program history and fifth in Division III this season. Eleanor Young was third in the race with a personal best of 5:01.61 and ranks third all-time and 29th nationally.
 
Goodrich won the 3000-meter run in 10:11.25 and now ranks third in program history.
 
Kaylee Birely scored a point for the Thunder in the 400-meter run, narrowly missing the one-minute barrier, finishing in 1:00.03. She betters her #5 all-time mark.
 
Sophia Peter moved to seventh in program history in the 200-meter dash with a personal best of 26.56 seconds.
 
Taryn Pratt took fifth place in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:20.90.
 
Grace Dubsky was third in the 5000-meter run in 17:52.49, she now owns the eighth best performance in school history.
 
Birely, Pratt, Alyssa Possehn, and Emily Wahl teamed up for a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet crossed in 4:13.43, the tenth best time in school history. Possehn set a personal best in the open 400 meters with 1:02.15, a new #8 all-time mark.
 
Brooklyn Kerry leaped to a new #3 mark in the long jump, soaring 5.50 meters/18' .5" and ranks 28th nationally.
 
Trine hosts the annual Mrs. G Invitational on Friday, February 6. The meet is set for a 3 p.m. start time.
