ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's basketball team was firing on all cylinders in their 101-55 dismantling of Adrian College this afternoon at a packed MTI Center.
Jayden Bradshaw delivered a masterful 20-point, six-rebound, and five-assist performance for the Thunder (11-4, 3-1 MIAA) who dominated the Bulldogs (4-11, 1-3 MIAA) from start to finish.
Trine shot 35-of-62 (56.5%) from the floor and 13-of-24 (54.2%) from beyond the arc and held a 47-25 rebounding advantage. The 101 points marks the first time in nearly two years the Thunder had eclipsed the century mark. The last being a 105-point output against Kalamazoo on February 14
th, 2024, in the Thunder's national championship season.
Bradshaw was spectacular from the start, converting an and-one and then the rare four-point play to score Trine's first seven.
Danny Flood poured in his first of five threes before Adrian got on the board to push the lead to 10. The triples continued to rain down as
Nate Tucker added one and then
Elias Lewis on the next possession. Tucker finished with 17 points and eight rebounds in a near double-double performance. Bradshaw pushed the lead to 20-5 with a second four-point play, nailing his second long ball with help from
Cade Brenner.
Brenner was not done dishing out dimes, throwing his second one over the rim to a leaping
Drew Panning who sent it home with a thunderous two-handed slam, igniting the largest home crowd of the season and pushing the lead to 24-7. The Bulldogs barked back with an 8-0 run, but
Danny Flood hushed the puppies with a pair of long balls to put Trine ahead by 15. Trine rode the momentum the rest of the half, pushing the lead to nearly 30 by halftime.
Tucker scored the first six of the second half for Trine and
Cade Brenner scored twice in two possessions as part of an 11-point, nine-rebound performance. Brenner grabbed four consecutive defensive rebounds, leading a dominant rebounding effort by the Thunder. Panning finished with 11 points and completed the tall guy to taller guy alley-oop from
Paxton Crane. Flood finished off his 17-point outing with back-to-back three pointers, five Thunder scored in double figures. Trine emptied the bench over the final few minutes.
Braeden Totten notched his first collegiate points and
Michael Roberson sent the Thunder into triple digits with his first college bucket.
