NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Trine University women's team crushed the opposition to open the season with a 7-0 victory over a shorthanded Manchester University.

The Thunder opened the match with a doubles and singles victory on the scorecard, with the Spartans entering the day with just five players. Trine completed their sweep of the doubles section with perfect No. 1 and No. 2 matches. Elina Locane and Alexis Maloney in the top match and Emilee Bassett and Emily Hatseras in the second each won 6-0.

Trine continued their dominance taking the five contested single matches to secure the sweep. Maloney and Hatseras won the No. 4 and No. 5 matches, respectively, in 6-0, 6-0 fashion. Locane dropped one point in the first set and Bassett dropped one in the second to just miss out on sweeps of their own. Emma Beehler finished off the day with a 6-3, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 match.

The team will continue their season with a pair of matches on Saturday, September 6. The first is against their hosts for the day from Franklin College and is set to start at 10 a.m. They follow up against Webster University at 1:30 p.m.
