ANDERSON, Ind. – It was the closest match of the fall, but the Trine University men's tennis team came out on top, securing an undefeated finish to the fall portion of the season. The Thunder defeated their hosts from Anderson (Ind.) University 4-3.

Trine needed a tiebreaker victory in the top match to secure the first point of the contest. Drew Hackney and Emmett Wirth picked up the first win of the day in the No. 2 doubles match with a score of 6-2. Sammy Yin and Andrew Spirrison then secured the first point of the day with a 7-6 (7-4) win in the No. 1 match.

The dual ultimately came down to the final match of the day, despite the best efforts of the Thunder. Hackney won the top match with scores of 6-2, 6-2 and Spirrison won the No. 2 match 6-4, 6-1, to give the team a 3-0 lead in the dual. The next three singles matches went to the three matches went to the Ravens to knot the match before the final contest of the day.

Landon Bassett won a convincing No. 6 match with scores of 6-3, 6-4 to secure the dual.

The Thunder finish the fall dual season 6-0 overall. Members of the team will finish out the rest of the fall by traveling to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the 2025 ITA Central Regional Championships. That event opens on Friday, Sept. 26.
