ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team picked up a hard fought fifth win of the season by defeating Taylor (Ind.) University 6-1.

The team's split the doubles portion of the contest, but the Thunder came away with the point. Emma Beehler and Addison Lockwood opened the day with a 6-1 victory in the No. 3 match. Elina Locane and Alexis Maloney followed just behind with a 6-2 win in the No. 1 match.

Trine went on to capture five of the singles match to secure the dual victory. Maloney turned in a convincing 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 4 match, with Emily Hatseras (6-1, 6-1) and Cali Mickley (6-2, 6-0) following just behind in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches. Locane had the quickest of the top three matches with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the top match.

Beehler played the most exciting match of the contest going to a super tiebreaker in No. 2 match. She won the first set 6-4, before falling 6-3 in the second. She secured the win with a 10-7 score in the tiebreaker.

The Thunder improve to 5-0 following the win. Individuals from the team will next compete when they travel to the ITA Regional Championships in St. Louis, Mo. which is set to start on Friday, September 19. The team's next dual is set for Tuesday, September 23 at Anderson (Ind.) University. That match is set to start at 3 p.m.
