FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced the recipients of the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll and 2024-25 Team GPA Awards. Trine University athletics was heavily represented on both lists.
The MIAA Team GPA Award is presented to conference athletic teams that achieve a 3.300 or better GPA for an academic year. Grade-point averages are calculated at the end of the academic year.
Trine had 19 teams earn the recognition, trailing only Hope College (20) among MIAA institutions. The Thunder were one of six members to have all their MIAA sponsored women's teams recognized. All eight MIAA schools who could do so had a double-digit number of their teams earn the award.
The top three highest GPA's, and six of the top ten, came from Trine. Women's tennis (3.905), men's tennis (3.889) and women's golf (3.855) comprised the podium for the award. Women's volleyball (3.813) came in at fifth, women's soccer (3.797) came in at eighth and softball (3.774) finished tenth.
Women's cross country (3.77) led the remainder of the teams, coming in at 11th. Rounding out the delegation for the Thunder were baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's cross country, men's golf, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's soccer, men's indoor and outdoor track and field, women's indoor and outdoor track and field. In total, 283 individual student-athletes at Trine were recognized by the MIAA on the 2024-25 Academic Honor Roll, the third most by any league school. Student-athletes must reach a 3.5 grade-point average for the academic year and earn a varsity letter in a MIAA-sponsored sport to be eligible.
