ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's triathlon team has announced their slate of races for the 2025 season.
The Thunder have established themselves as a Division III powerhouse over the past five seasons. They have dominated on the national stage, finishing no worse than runner-up over the past five championships. They won the final competition in 2021 and have finished as runners-up in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The team will open the season with a pair of races that represent short travel for the traditionally long traveling team. They start in Fishers, Ind. at the Geist Triathlon which is set for an 8 a.m. start on Sunday, August 31. The second race of the season will be hosted by Trine in Clear Lake, Ind. The Trine Splash and Dash is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18.
The Thunder begin their barnstorming phase heading to the Beaver County Tri Cup on Saturday, September 20. The event, which is hosted by Duquesne University is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. in Beaver Falls, Pa.
Two weeks later the team heads to Dewitt, Ill. for the 2025 edition of the Prairie State Cup hosted by Millikin University. Last season the Thunder finished sixth out of 12 teams, but second in their division. This year's race is set to start at 10:15 a.m.
The team's last guaranteed competition comes on Saturday, October 25 when they compete at the East Regional in Troutman, N.C. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Based on their finish at the regional they will then travel to Tempe, Ariz. for the 2025 USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 8.
