ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team finished the regular season with a home loss to Kalamazoo College. The Hornets, who secured the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) regular season title today, won the match 7-0.
Trine fell behind early, losing all three of the doubles matches. Drew Hackney and Andrew Spirrison came closest to a win, falling 6-4 in the No. 1 match. Spirrison went on to have the closest set of the singles matches, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 2 match.
The Thunder finish the regular season 10-10 overall and 4-3 in MIAA play. They will serve as the four-seed in the upcoming MIAA Men's Tennis Tournament and will host an opening round match. Their opponent will be fifth-seeded Adrian College, who Trine just defeated 6-1 last weekend. Information for the match will be released later this week.
