Thunder Advance Over Bulldogs

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team will advance to the semifinals of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament after defeating fifth seeded Adrian College 4-0.

The Thunder took two of three doubles matches to secure the first team point of the day. Nicholas Jen and Caleb Morris had a 6-1 victory in the No. 3 match for the first win. Drew Hackney and Andrew Spirrison came up with a 6-2 victory in the No. 1 match to secure the point for the team.

Elijah Schilthuis picked up the first point of the singles portion of the day by taking the No. 3 match 6-1, 6-0. Not long later, Jen finished the day undefeated with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 6 match. Hackney finished the dual with a 6-3, 6-3 victory in the No. 1 match. The match ended after the fourth point was tallied for Trine, despite the team trailing in the three remaining matches.

Trine finishes the day 11-10 overall following the victory. They advance to the semifinal round of the MIAA tournament after the win. They will travel to face top-seeded Kalamazoo College on Thursday, May 1. That dual is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
