ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team picked up their 12
th win of the season by defeating Alma College 6-1.
The Thunder won two of three doubles matches to secure the first team point of the day.
Alexis Maloney and
Emilee Bassett finished first with a sweep in the No. 2 match.
Emily Hatseras and
Addison Lockwood, who filled in for the normal starter, came up with a 6-1 victory.
Trine went on to win all but one of the singles matches to secure the match win. Maloney had the most convincing of the wins, taking the No. 4 match 6-1, 6-2.
Elina Locane was just behind coming up with a 6-2, 6-2 in the top match. Lockwood completed her day of filling in undefeated winning the No. 6 match 6-3, 6-1.
The final two team points came by way of super-tiebreakers. Bassett won her first set before taking the match in the super with scores of 6-2, 4-6, 10-8. Hatseras won the No. 5 match with two tiebreaking wins, she finished with scores of 7-6(7-2), 2-6, 13-11.
The Thunder finish the day 12-3 overall and 3-2 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play. They will next take the courts when they travel to face Adrian College on Saturday, April 19.
