Baseball Falls to Moravian

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Trine University Baseball team ended up on the wrong end of a 4-3 decision against Moravian this morning. Three Thunder registered multi hits and Owen Mitchell pitched seven quality innings. Trine concludes their trip to Florida with a 6-3 record and are 6-5 overall.
 
Mitchell went seven innings and allowed four hits and one earned run while striking out five. Max Hoogeveen, Nathan Gilmet, and Sam Beckham each had two hits. Moravian took a 1-0 lead in the first, Trine would hold the Greyhounds scoreless for the next six innings. Trine scored once in the second and third. Noah Prewitt advanced to second on consecutive walks and a single from Cole Schmidthuber singled to bring in the run. Max Hoogeveen scored on an error by the Greyhounds shortstop. Both teams went scoreless over the next four innings, Mitchell struck out three in the frame. Moravian scored three in the eighth to take a 4-2 lead. Trine scored one in the ninth but the comeback attempt fell short.
 
Trine returns to action next Saturday, March 15th at Manchester.
