ORLANDO, Fla. – The Trine University women's tennis team continued their spring break trip with a second win, defeating Concordia University Wisconsin by the score of 6-1.
The day opened with doubles play and a sweep for the Thunder, to earn the team point. Emilee Bassett and Alexis Maloney dominated the No. 2 match winning 6-0 and just outdoing the No. 1 team of Elina Locane and Emma Beehler who won 6-1. Lizzie Welker and Emily Hatseras rounded out the wins with a 6-4 victory at No. 3.
Maloney had another lopsided victory in her singles match, winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Bassett in the No. 3 match and Hatseras in the No. 5 match each ceded just three games to the opposition. Bassett won 6-1, 6-2 and Hatseras won 6-0, 6-3. Locane also remained undefeated for the day with a 6-0, 6-4 win in the No. 1 match.
Beehler came from behind in the No. 2 match to secure the final point of the day for Trine. After dropping the first set 5-7 she won the second 6-0 before taking the tiebreaker 12-10.
The Thunder are now 6-0 after the victory. They will continue their season tomorrow, Wednesday, March 5 when they face Wartburg College. That match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
