TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team came up short of their hosts form the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology falling 5-2.
The Fightin' Engineers took all three of the doubles matches to secure the team point. Drew Hackney and Andrew Spirrison only just loss, falling in a tiebreaker by with a final score of 6-7 (6-8).
Hackney earned the first team point of the day, taking the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-3. The other point came in the No. 6 match. There Nicholas Jen won in a super tiebreaker with final scores of 2-6, 6-2, 10-8.
Two other matches went to super tiebreakers but went against the Thunder. Spirrison lost the No. 2 match with scores of 7-5, 4-6, 2-10 and Caleb Morris fell in the No. 4 match 0-6, 6-3, 5-10.
Trine falls to 6-7 after the loss. They will open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) portion of their schedule on Wednesday, March 26 by hosting Albion College for a 4 p.m. match.
