Thunder Dethrone Student Princes

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Trine University men's lacrosse team stayed perfect with a dominating 19-2 victory over Heidelberg University.

The Thunder scored all 19 of their goals before surrendering one to the Student Princes. The first came under three minutes into the contest, an unassisted tally by Collin Custer. Three minutes later Vin Pantano set up Mitchell Voglewede for the second and then Will Gonia for the third two minutes after that. The final goal of the period came with 6:41 remaining. Connor Ballantyne scored with Rocco Curatola adding the assist.

The team added six more in the second quarter. Ballantyne and Custer each added their second of the game while Chris Molnar, Landen Kruse, Kramer Zastrow and Jackson Bell found the back of the net for the first time. The period gave the team a 10-0 lead for the intermission.

The only new scorers in the third were Pantano and Curatola, but the team added six more to the scoreboard to make their lead 16-0. Custer, Gonia, Zastrow and Ballantyne each added to their tallies.

Xavier Huber and Caleb Hamm joined the goal party in the third, with Gonia adding his third to round out the scoring in the contest. Heidelberg scored the final two of the game, both in the last five minutes of play to make the score 19-2.

Pantano led the way in the game, finishing with a goal and five assists for six points. Custer and Gonia each had three goals while Curatola finished with a goal and two assists to finish tied for second on the team with three points each.

The Thunder improve to 3-0 following the victory. They will return home for the second game of the weekend, hosting Otterbein University tomorrow, Sunday, March 2. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
