ANGOLA, Ind. –
Erin Sherwood recorded her second career double-double with a 19-point 12-rebound performance to lead the #11 Trine University women's basketball team to a 69-40 win over Adrian in the latest edition of the Black and Blue Border Brawl.

Sidney Wagner scored in double figures as the Thunder extend their winning steak to a dozen and are 20-2 (13-0 MIAA) Adrian falls to 6-16 (5-8 MIAA).
It was a slow start for both teams, nearly eight minutes into the game Trine led just 8-4, Sherwood scored the first six and added five first quarter rebounds. Trine took a 14-4 lead to the second quarter.
Trine struck quickly in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 13 with another Sherwood lay in. Adrian responded with an 8-0 run, pulling within 19-14. The Thunder offense came to life, matching the Bulldogs with an 8-0 run of their own. Hinds buried a triple, Sherwood scored three on an and-one, then Hinds notched a pair of free throws to give Trine a 27-14 lead.
Trine pulled away in the second half nearly matching their first half point total in both quarters with 21. Sherwood secured her double-double with an offensive rebound and a put back to put the first points of the second half on the board for the hosts. She added two more after coming up with a steal, she found Wagner for the give and go who got the assist. It was Sherwood's turn at the dish, assisting the next two Thunder baskets.
Allison Capouch nailed a trio of triples as Trine blew the game wide open.
The threes continued to rain down inside just as fast as the snow did outside. Hinds hit one, then it was Wagner's turn as she nailed a pair back to back to stretch the lead to 27.
Trine heads to Holland, Michigan on Saturday for a high stakes battle with the Hope Flying Dutch, the winner will likely be the host of the MIAA Tournament.
