Megnanglo, #2 Thunder Dominate First Half, Cruise Past Adrian 92-65

ANGOLA, Ind. – Emmanuel Megnanglo posted a first half double-double on his way to a 16-point 12-rebound performance as the #2 Trine University Men's Basketball team rolled to 92-65 win over Adrian inside the MTI Center this afternoon. Trine is now 17-2 (7-1 MIAA) and Adrian falls to 6-13 (4-4 MIAA).
 
Nate Tucker led all scorers with 22 points while adding seven assists and five rebounds. Megnanglo shot an impressive 87.5% from the floor while swatting two shots and dishing out four assists. Cam Smith and Jayce Cusack each scored in double figures and Aidan Smylie added nine points, four rebounds, and three assists to complete a balanced offensive performance.
 
Tucker got the Thunder rolling with six of the first eight points, Megnanglo added six more of his own. Trine led 20-15 just past halfway in the first half. Trine closed on a 26-4 run. Cam Smith found Tucker for a lay in, then Tucker hit Max Greenamoyer who nailed a three. Megnanglo added four more, two coming from a thunderous two handed slam. Cusack converted an and-one and Trevor Montiel knocked in two more free throws. Cusack added three more from beyond the arc and Smith dashed through the lane and got a tough contested layup to fall. Megnanglo dished out an assist to Grant Pahl who buried Trine's third triple of the half. Megnanglo grabbed seven first half defensive rebounds, six of those limited the Bulldogs to one shot possessions to stamp a dominant performance of both ends of the floor.
 
Trine quickly pushed the lead to 35 to open the second half. The lead held steady as the clock rolled under the ten minute mark. Smylie drove the baseline and put up an up and under reverse layup that bounced in a wowed the crowd to give Trine a 72-45 lead. The Bulldogs would cut the lead to 18, but Trine would squash any hope of a comeback with a 7-0 run. The teams emptied the benches to close the game, Cade Brenner scored five points over the final minute.
 
Trine heads to Holland, Mich. on Wednesday to take on Hope and kickoff a three game road trip. They'll head to Alma next Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. tip.
