FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Senior Roman Schrock has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Football Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
It is the third time this season that a member of the team has earned Athlete of the Week honors, the second for a defensive player. It is the first time in Schrock's career that he has been recognized by the MIAA.
The Goshen, Ind. native, was a force in the secondary for a Thunder defense that held The University of Olivet to just seven points. He finished the day with a pair of interceptions and two solo tackles. His first interception return went 38 yards to the endzone for a touchdown that gave the team a 21-0 lead at the time. His second also came in the first quarter and had a 25 yard return that set up the offense on the 20 yard line.
The Thunder dominated the Comets, taking a 52-0 lead into halftime and ultimately securing a 59-7 victory. Trine is now 4-2 overall and 2-1 in MIAA play heading into next weekend when they are scheduled to face Calvin University on Saturday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
