ANGOLA, Ind. – Tomorrow, at the annual Touchstone and Homecoming Celebration Dinner, two individuals and one team will be inducted into the Trine University Athletic Hall of Fame. During the week we will highlight the Class of 2025 and their accomplishments.

Through his career, Barnett collected seven All-America honors, three NCAA runner-up finishes in long jump, nine first team All-MIAA honors and a MIAA Indoor Field MVP.
On the gridiron, Barnett helped Trine capture two MIAA Championships and two NCAA Playoff appearances in 2017 and 2018. Barnett led the Trine receiving corps with 830 yards and nine touchdowns in the 2017 campaign as Trine completed their first undefeated regular season since 2010. He then helped run it back, with a second undefeated regular season in 2018, during which he surpassed the career record for receiving yards. On the track, Barnett helped Trine capture their first MIAA Championship at the 2016 Indoor Championships. He earned Most Valuable Field Athlete at the 2017 championships.
Individually, Barnett holds seven school records at Trine. On the football field, he holds the career records for receiving yards and kick return touchdowns, the season records for kick return touchdowns and average yards per return, and the game record for receiving yards. He has 24 other top ten marks in the football record book.Â
On the track, his name is littered across the record book. Barnett is the recordholder for both the indoor and outdoor long jump. His leap of 7.61 meters/24' 11.75" ranks ninth all-time indoors in Division III. He has top ten marks in the indoor and outdoor triple jump and the indoor 200-meter dash. Barnett was named the recipient of the 2019 Robert L. Greim award, given to the outstanding male senior athlete at Trine.
Since graduating college, Barnett has spent his time building his career in construction working for a specialties company in Fort Wayne, Ind. When not at work he enjoys spending time with his wife, Breonah, and their energetic two-year-old daughter, Avanni. The family enjoys attending high school football games around Fort Wayne and in his hometown of Fremont, Ohio, where his nephews play.
In addition to the official induction to the Hall of Fame on Friday, October 3, all members of the class will be recognized on the field during Trine's football game against Hope College on Saturday, October 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. with recognitions place throughout.
