BLAINE, Minn. – The Trine University women's hockey team came up short in the first game of their weekend doubleheader against Bethel (Minn.) University, falling 2-0 in the contest.
The Thunder won the opening faceoff of the game and then forced a block and a save in the first two minutes of the contest. But the Royals scored on their first shot of the game to take the 1-0 lead in the third minute of the period.
The next 55 minutes of the game were scoreless, before the home team scored their second goal in the waning minutes of the contest to finish the game with the 2-0 final.
Despite the loss,
Annie Kindseth had a solid performance in net. She finished the game with 30 saves, including 14 in the scoreless second period.
Trine struggled to get shots on goal in the contest, finishing with just 16 as a team. Four of those came from
Kailey Mleko who led the team.
The Thunder fall to 5-7-2 overall following the loss. They will look to bounce back tomorrow, Saturday, January 4. Opening puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT / 3 p.m. ET.
