Foresters Finish Sweep of Women's Hockey

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Trine University women's hockey team struck first, but ultimately fell to their hosts from Lake Forest College by the score of 2-1.

Neither team scored through the first two periods of play. For the second night in a row, Annie Kindseth led the way for the Thunder, recording 13 saves in the first period and 18 more in the second to keep the game scoreless. She ultimately finished the game with 39 saves.

The Thunder finally broke the with the help of a penalty by the Foresters. Running the offensive in the forward zone Ryleigh White scored with a long shot from the point. Emma-Lyn Stephenson was credited with an assist after passing back-and-forth with White ahead of the shot. The goal came in the second minute of the final period.

Lake Forest scored their first goal five minutes later and then took the lead in the 16th minute. Trine pulled their goalie in the final minute, in addition to another extra advantage with a Forester penalty. But they couldn't find another goal and the 2-1 score went final.

The Thunder fall to 6-11-2 overall and 3-7-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play after the weekend. The team will return home for their next games, hosting Aurora University beginning on Friday, January 31. That first game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
