Thunder Remain Unbeaten at Earlham Invitational

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Trine University women's volleyball team secured two more wins at the second day of the Earlham Invitational. They opened the day with a 3-1 victory against the College of Wooster before defeating the weekend's hosts from Earlham College 3-0.

The Thunder took the first set of the day 25-19, before dominating the Fighting Scots in the second set with a final score of 25-8. Wooster took the third set, before Trine finished off the match with a 25-11 fourth. Despite the lopsided second, the best set for the team offensively came in the third when they had 11 kills and no errors.

Aleena Keh paced the team with eight kills in the match while also finishing second with six digs. Emmaline Leatherman finished second with seven kills and led the team with three blocks. Georgia Pogue and Anna Zellers split the setting duties with and finishing with 11 and 10 assists respectively. Zellers also led the way with four service aces and nine digs.

Trine finished the day with a lopsided victory against the Quakers. They won the first set 25-11, the second 25-17 and the third 25-19. The service was crucial in the win, with the Thunder recording 15 aces. They added double-digit kill totals in both the first and third sets.

Cara Wlodarczyk led the way in the match in both aces with eight and digs with 19. Julia Maggio finished with ten kills while Catherine Dobies came in second with seven. Francesca Queary, Cassidy Victor and Kylie Rowland all tied with three blocks in the match. Zellers finished with 19 assists to lead the team.

Trine improves to 4-0 following the first two days of their season. They are scheduled to travel to the Rose-Hulman Invitational for their next day of competition. They are scheduled to face their hosts in their first match on Saturday, September 7. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
