ALBION, Mich. – Four Trine Women's Basketball players scored in double figures Saturday afternoon in a 70-54 MIAA Conference win over Albion.
Sidney Wagner led the Thunder with 18 points and rebounds. Trine improves to 6-1 (2-0 MIAA) while the Britons fall to 1-6 (0-2 MIAA).
Trine outscored Albion in all four quarters and took a lead they would not give up just 18 seconds into the game as they scored six of the first seven points in the contest. Wagner knocked in one of her three triples as the Thunder stretched an early lead to 11-3.
Hailey Cole scored 4 of her 10 points in the frame to give Trine a 17-11 advantage.
In the second quarter
Jada Rhonehouse added eight of her 14 points in the second half leading Trine to a 37-26 halftime advantage. Wagner added another triple to kickstart a 9-2 run as the Thunder continued to stretch the lead.
Albion cut the lead to seven in the early portion of the third quarter, Trine would slam the door with a 10-3 run immediately following with Cole and Wagner scoring four each and
Erin Sherwood knocked in the other bucket.
Leading by 14 entering the fourth quarter, Trine opened the period with a 17-5 run to take a 26-point lead. Wagner made her third triple and
Katie Tate crossed into double figures. Trine would go scoreless over the final 2:30 but the large lead meant the visitors were never threatened.
Trine will take a 12-day hiatus before returning to the MTI Center to host the Trine Holiday Classic on December 19
th and 20
th.
