Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Hockey Remains Unbeaten

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's hockey team continued their unbeaten ways while finishing off a sweep of Chatham University with a 3-0 victory on their home ice.

Similar to the Saturday edition of the matchup, the Cougars had their best period in the first. They outshot the Thunder 9-6 in the stanza, but unlike yesterday none of the shots found the back of the net. Cristian Wong-Ramos made all nine saves for the team, making his third start of the season.

Trine dominated the rest of the contest, ending the game with a 30-14 advantage in shots on goal.

They scored their first goal in the 16th minute of the second period. Michael DiPietra won the puck along the boards in the defensive zone before getting caught near the blue line by a pair of Cougars. He was able to make a short pass to Brendan Finn who in turn backhanded the puck away from the boards to near center ice. Dylan Glinski was there for the pass and after skating into the offensive zone and weaving through the Chatham skaters, he fired a beautiful shot from the far dot. The goal was the first of the freshman's career.

In the opening minute of the final period the Thunder quickly established a possession in the offensive zone. Lem Vardy handed the puck off to Jack Cooper near the blueline on the far side of the ice. Cooper fired a long range shot toward the goal which deflected off Alexander Babich into the goal to make the score 2-0.

The halted any comeback attempt with their third goal in the 16th minute of the same period. This time Tyler Fox intercepted a pass near the defensive blueline before skating up the ice passing the puck back-and-forth with Ethan Janda. Janda eventually ended up with the puck just inside the far circle and scored on the breakaway shot.

Trine improves to 9-0-1 following the weekend of competition. They return to Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play for their next pair of games. They will travel to face St. Norbert College for a pair of games beginning on Friday, December 6. The Green Knights are the only other undefeated team in the NCHA and are currently ranked second in the nation. Game one is set to start at 7 p.m. CT.
